Arguineguín's Tuesday market: hours, location and what is sold

Arguineguín's market is held every Tuesday from 08:30 to 15:00 (the flea market closes at 14:30), at Plaza Negra and Plaza de las Marañuelas.

Arguineguín's market takes place every Tuesday from 08:30 to 15:00, according to Mogán council's tourism office. It is really three markets: a municipal market and a flea market at Plaza Negra, and a craft market at Plaza de las Marañuelas. The flea market (the rastro) closes half an hour earlier, at 14:30. You can walk to it from most of the town, and the Global bus also stops in Arguineguín.

The rest of this page covers what each market sells, how to plan the morning, how to get there and where to look if you want a second market in the same week.

The three Tuesday markets, side by side

All three are listed as separate markets on the council's tourism site, each with its own page. They run on the same day, so in practice they feel like one morning out.

MarketHoursWhereWhat the council says is sold
Municipal market (Mercadillo Municipal)Tuesday 08:30–15:00Plaza NegraFruit and vegetables, souvenirs, clothes, jewellery, bags, shoes
Craft market (Mercadillo Artesanal)Tuesday 08:30–15:00Plaza de las MarañuelasLeather goods, ceramics, jewellery, glass figures
Flea market (Rastro, second-hand)Tuesday 08:30–14:30Plaza NegraSecond-hand goods

The craft market page has a typo in the opening time ("8;30"), but the page's description and the other two pages agree on 08:30.

Is the Tuesday market still where the guides say?

The council's three market pages, checked on 24 October 2026, all give Tuesday and the same plazas. The catch is that the pages were last edited in 2022 and early 2023, so they are not a promise about this particular week. Some older blogs say the market runs 8:00 to 14:00; the council's figure is 08:30 to 15:00. If you are planning around the market, particularly in a week with a public holiday, phone Mogán council or ask at your accommodation. The council does not say whether the market runs when a public holiday falls on a Tuesday; 8 December 2026 is one such day.

Where Plaza Negra and Plaza de las Marañuelas are

Both squares are in Arguineguín itself. The council's pages point to a map but give no street address. Plaza Negra and Plaza de las Marañuelas are the two markers to search for in a map app. The name Marañuelas also belongs to one of the town's beaches on the council list. For the town laid out area by area, see the map and layout of Arguineguín.

What you will find

Going by the council's lists, expect a mix of produce, clothes and souvenirs at the municipal stalls, handmade items at the craft market and second-hand goods at the rastro. Stallholders change from week to week, so there is no list of "the best stall". A few practical notes:

Bargaining and paying

There are no published rules for haggling at Arguineguín's market, so this is advice, not a rule. For fruit and vegetables, ask the price and pay it; stall prices are normally displayed. At the rastro and for non-food items, a polite question about the price is ordinary, a hard-nosed negotiation is not, and buying several things from one stall is the easiest way to get a little off. Bring cash in small notes and coins: it is not published which stalls take cards. For cash machines and card use around town, see money, cards and cash machines.

Walk the rows first. Do one full circuit before you buy anything, so you can compare prices on similar items between stalls and see what the craft market has that the municipal stalls do not.

Getting there: on foot, by bus, by taxi

On foot. If you are staying in Arguineguín, the market is a short walk. From Patalavaca the coast path to Arguineguín takes roughly half an hour at an easy pace; see coastal walks from Arguineguín to Patalavaca and Anfi.

By bus. Global's lines 91, 90, 33 and 39 stop in Arguineguín. The stop Global names for the town is Casa Memo; the walking distance from there to either plaza is not published. Timetables, fares and payment are in buses in and from Arguineguín. A market morning is a good time to use the bus, as it saves the parking question.

By taxi. A taxi from the neighbouring resorts is a short ride; see taxis in Arguineguín.

Parking on market day

Nothing is published on parking near the plazas on a Tuesday, whether spaces are charged, or whether streets close for the stalls. The council runs an underground car park in Arguineguín (486 spaces, according to old news items), but tariffs and hours are not published. If you drive, arrive early or leave the car at your accommodation and walk, and see parking in Arguineguín.

When to go, and how long to stay

The market runs for 6½ hours, but there is no official advice on the busiest time. A sensible plan is to arrive soon after 08:30 for the best choice and cooler air, and leave by lunchtime. From midday the sun is strong, and the Canary Islands health authority names the region as having Spain's highest UV level all year, so wear a hat and sun cream even in winter. Many visitors combine the market with a coffee, then the sea: the town beach is nearby, and the Cofradía de los Pescadores restaurant is reviewed in our restaurant guide.

The market is held outdoors, so a rainy or very windy Tuesday may change your plans; ideas for those days are in what to do on a rainy or windy day.

Other markets in Mogán

If Tuesday does not suit you, the council lists these markets too:

The Puerto de Mogán markets have their own page: the markets in Puerto de Mogán. For events through the year, including the local fiestas, see festivals and events, and for more free ideas, free things to do in Arguineguín.

Accessibility and practicalities

Surfaces and step-free access at the two plazas are not published, so ask at your accommodation if a wheelchair or pushchair matters. For the town as a whole see accessible Arguineguín. Keep bags closed and in front of you in crowds; petty theft is the main risk in Mogán according to the official crime statistics.
