The best restaurants in Arguineguín and Patalavaca

For fish, go to the fishermen's cooperative at the harbour; for tapas, El Bistro Tapas; for steak, Cueva Pirata; for wine with dinner, Taste Mesón. Every place below has been trading in 2026.

If you only have one meal to plan, make it lunch at the Cofradía de Pescadores, the fishermen's cooperative restaurant at the harbour, where the fish comes off boats you can see from the quay. For everything else, Arguineguín is a town of small, family-run places rather than famous ones: tapas in the Áncora shopping centre, grills and steaks on Avenida Los Canarios, a wine-led restaurant on Plaza de las Marañuelas, and a cluster of resort restaurants a few minutes east at Anfi del Mar.

This page sorts them by what you are in the mood for. We list only restaurants with customer reviews dated in 2026 or, at Anfi, restaurants the resort itself still lists. We do not rank them one to ten, because a ranking of places this different would be a fiction.

Best for fish: the fishermen's cooperative at the harbour

The Cofradía de Pescadores restaurant sits at the fishing harbour (the Muelle de Arguineguín). It is the place visitors are usually sent to for fish soup, limpets in green mojo and whatever the boats landed. Reviewers in 2026 praise the seafood and the fried fish, warn that it fills up, especially at weekends, and say it is worth booking. The setting is plain and local rather than polished, which is part of the point.

Do not mix it up with its namesake: there is a second fishermen's cooperative restaurant at Puerto de Mogán, and online listings sometimes blend the two. The one you want here is at Arguineguín's own harbour. How to order, which fish to ask about and what to be wary of on a tourist-street menu are covered on the seafood and fresh fish page.

Best for traditional Spanish and Canarian cooking

Los Canarios 1 has reviews from May to August 2026. Regular visitors describe a menu built on grilled meat, lamb shoulder, steaks and fish, and one tip comes up more than once: if you want the paella, order it the day before. Booking is sensible at peak times. Visa, Mastercard and American Express are listed as accepted.

For the dishes themselves, the sauces, the potatoes and what gofio is, read Canarian food to try before you go. It makes a Spanish menu a lot less opaque.

Best for tapas

El Bistro Tapas is in the Centro Comercial Áncora, Local 131 on Calle Tamarán, by the whale-tail roundabout. It is not much to look at from outside, but reviewers in 2026 keep coming back to the same things: meatballs, garlic prawns, bread with alioli, stuffed salt cod and grilled vegetables. It is family-run, there is parking next door, and it is popular enough that booking is advised.

Tapas as a way of eating, and how to order them without ending up with eight dishes, are on the tapas page. Another casual option is Jamonal de Arguineguín on Calle Alonso Quesada, which reviewers place on a side street near the port, with good burgers, tapas and mostly outdoor tables.

Best for wine and a slower dinner

Taste Mesón on Plaza de las Marañuelas is the pick if you want to match what you eat with what you drink. A 2017 article put its list at more than 250 wines by the glass; the number may have changed, but 2026 reviews still centre on the wine advice, a chef's tasting menu with paired wines and dishes such as fish tacos. One reviewer says dogs are welcome. Expect to pay more than at the tapas bars; an aggregator puts a typical bill at around €30–45 per person.

It is also a good answer to where to go for a quieter evening, a theme the couples' guide to Arguineguín takes further.

Best for steak and the grill

Cueva Pirata, at Avenida Los Canarios 2, is a grill restaurant. Its reviews from mid-October 2026 are the most recent of any restaurant in town. The dish people recommend most is the sirloin; others mention garlic prawns, a bluefin tuna belly starter, a long wine list and generous desserts. One aggregator puts a typical bill at €20–30 a head, which is a guide, not a promise. Reserve if you want a table at a weekend.

Best for a group that cannot agree

El Marino Chico, also in the Áncora centre, has the widest menu of the places above. Soup, steak, fish, pizza and risotto all come up in 2026 reviews, and one visitor describes a birthday table of eleven being looked after well. Reviewers advise booking. Opinions on the steak are mixed, so the fish is the safer bet.

For Chinese food the town has Mandarin on Calle Viera y Clavijo, with a review from July 2026. Older web pages call it Palacio Chino; whether the two names are exactly the same business is not clear, so go by Mandarin.

Best near the beach and the sea

La Barca, on Calle Graciliano Afonso, is an open-air restaurant near the beach with tapas, pizza, paella and grilled meat. Reviewers like the view over the bay and the sunset and are split on value: one praised a cheap fish dinner, another thought prices high. Check each price on the menu before you sit down. The sea-view places as a category get their own page, restaurants with a sea view.

Best in Patalavaca and Anfi del Mar

Patalavaca itself has few restaurants with a confirmed current listing, and most visitors walk or drive the short distance to Arguineguín or Anfi. At Anfi del Mar the resort's own website lists a dozen places, among them Bella Pasta (Italian, family-friendly, 12:00–23:00), La Posada (Tex-Mex with a charcoal grill close to the beach, 10:00–22:30), Mar de Tapas (11:00–22:30) and Nube on Anfi Plaza, which serves grilled meat with a view of the island and marina (12:00–23:00). The hours are undated on the resort's page, so check before you set out. For the neighbourhood, see Patalavaca.

Áncora centre lunch plan. El Bistro Tapas and El Marino Chico are both in the Centro Comercial Áncora, beside the whale-tail roundabout. If one is full, the other is a short walk away, which makes the centre a sensible place to turn up without a booking.

Pizzería Ciao: why it is not on the list

Pizzería Ciao still has a page on this site, but its latest dated customer reviews are from autumn 2025, so it is not confirmed as open this year and is not recommended. Unconfirmed places are not on this list. For what a meal should cost and what to leave on the table, see eating out: prices, tipping and customs.
