By car, Arguineguín is about 42 km and 33 minutes from the airport, 63 km from Las Palmas and 16 km from Puerto de Mogán. Buses and the Salmón boat cover the coast in between; tables below.
Arguineguín sits roughly in the middle of Gran Canaria's south-west coast, which makes most of the places visitors want within reach. By road it is about 42 km (around 33 minutes) from Gran Canaria Airport, 63 km (around 49 minutes) from Las Palmas, 13 km from the Faro de Maspalomas and 16 km (around 21 minutes) from Puerto de Mogán. Patalavaca and Anfi are a few minutes away; Puerto Rico about ten.
The tables below give road distances and drive times from the centre of Arguineguín, then the buses that run to each place and the boat fares and departures along the coast. Treat every figure as «about»: the drive times are a no-traffic calculation, and the bus and boat operators change timetables with the season.
By car: distances from the centre of Arguineguín
These are road distances and drive times calculated with the OpenStreetMap-based OSRM routing service, which assumes normal speed limits and no traffic. Rush-hour traffic will add time, so allow a margin when you are catching a flight.
| Destination | Road distance | Drive time (no traffic) | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Patalavaca | about 2.5 km | about 4 min | The next resort stretch along the coast road |
| Anfi del Mar | about 3 km | about 5 min | Resort with a public beach |
| Puerto Rico | about 7 km | about 11 min | Marina, beach and the boat line |
| Amadores | about 8 km | about 12 min | Beach between Puerto Rico and Tauro |
| Tauro | about 11 km | about 13 min | Beach at the mouth of the Tauro valley |
| Meloneras | about 11 km | about 12 min | In San Bartolomé de Tirajana, east of Arguineguín |
| Playa del Cura | about 11 km | about 12 min | Small beach before Taurito |
| Faro de Maspalomas | about 13 km | about 16 min | Lighthouse and dunes |
| Playa del Inglés | about 14 km | about 13 min | Centre of the Maspalomas resort |
| Cercados de Espino | about 14 km | about 23 min | Up the Barranco de Arguineguín |
| Taurito | about 14 km | about 15 min | Dark-sand bay with a lido complex |
| Puerto de Mogán | about 16 km | about 21 min | The harbour village at the end of the coast road |
| Mogán village | about 21 km | about 25 min | The municipal town in the hills |
| Soria | about 25 km | about 39 min | Village by the dam; mountain road |
| Roque Nublo area | roughly 45–50 km | about an hour or more | Mountain roads; reservation compulsory, see below |
| Gran Canaria Airport | about 42 km | about 33 min | Via the GC-1 motorway |
| Las Palmas (Vegueta) | about 63 km | about 49 min | Same motorway, further north |
The sums are a good guide rather than a promise. Mogán's tourism office puts the airport at about 45 km from the municipality's coast, 30 to 45 minutes depending on where you are going, which agrees. The Roque Nublo and Cercados de Espino figures are to approximate points on the map, not to a signed car park.
The roads you will use
The airport and Las Palmas are reached on the GC-1, the southern motorway. The coast road is the GC-500, running between Maspalomas and Puerto de Mogán. Inland, the GC-505 climbs from the island's centre to the northern Mogán districts and is the road toward Soria.
Spain's national limits are 120 km/h on motorways, 90 km/h on conventional roads and 50 km/h in towns, falling to 30 km/h on single-lane urban streets; local signs can lower them, so trust the sign over the rule. If you are weighing up hire car against the alternatives, the airport transfer guide compares taxi, bus and hire car, and parking in Arguineguín covers the other half of the car question.
By bus: which Global line goes where
Four Global lines stop in Arguineguín (90, 91, 33 and 39) and a fifth makes one trip a day to Cercados de Espino. Global's line pages list stops and departure times but not journey times, and the fare between two towns is worked out per passenger by distance, so the table gives lines and what is published rather than minutes. Details of stops, payment and cards are on buses in and from Arguineguín.
| Destination | Lines | What is published |
|---|---|---|
| Patalavaca, Puerto Rico | 91, 33, 39 | All three stop in both places; no Arguineguín-to-Puerto-Rico journey time is published |
| Puerto de Mogán | 91, 33 | Line 91 takes 60 minutes from the airport to Puerto de Mogán and costs €6.80 from the airport (Global); the fare from Arguineguín is not published |
| Amadores, Playa del Cura | 39 (both); 90 (Playa del Cura) | Line 39 weekdays hourly in each direction; line 90 ends at Playa del Cura |
| Playa del Inglés | 33, 39 | Both start there |
| Faro de Maspalomas | 90 | The airport-to-Faro run takes 40 minutes (Global) |
| Gran Canaria Airport | 91, 90 | €4.95 from the airport to Arguineguín (AENA) |
| Las Palmas | 91 | Direct to Santa Catalina and San Telmo; the airport-to-Santa-Catalina leg is 30 minutes |
| Telde | 90 | Via the airport |
| Mogán village | 91 or 33, then 84 | Change at Puerto de Mogán |
| Cercados de Espino | 6 | One trip a day from Casa Memo in Arguineguín; check the line page |
Anfi is not named as a stop on line 33's page, so for Anfi you either walk, take the boat or ask the driver about the nearest stop. The winter timetable change happens as the clocks go back on Sunday 25 October 2026; Global's notice says services starting on 24 October finish on the old schedule. Check the current timetable on guaguasglobal.com before you plan a tight connection.
By boat along the coast
Líneas Salmón runs a regular all-year line between Arguineguín, Anfi del Mar, Puerto Rico and Puerto de Mogán. Journey times are not given on its page, and the page's promise of «more than 48 sailings a day» does not match its own timetable, so go by the table of departures. Fares are in euros for the single and the return; children aged 6 to 12 pay less and babies up to 5 travel free.
| From Arguineguín to | Adult single / return | Child single / return | Departures from Arguineguín |
|---|---|---|---|
| Anfi del Mar | €5 / €8 | €3.50 / €5 | 10:15 hourly to 16:15, plus 17:00 |
| Puerto Rico | €8 / €14 | €5 / €8 | 10:15 hourly to 16:15, plus 17:00 |
| Puerto de Mogán | €15 / €21 | €8 / €15 | 10:15 hourly to 16:15 |
Coming back, the listed departures are 09:30 to 16:30 from Puerto Rico and 09:45 to 15:45 from Puerto de Mogán, so the last boat home leaves earlier than you might expect. Salmón's phone numbers and current timetable are on lineassalmon.es. A second operator, Líneas Blue Bird, also serves these ports; its timetable is at lineasbluebird.com. Blue Bird says it adds sailings on Arguineguín's Tuesday market day. Boats from Arguineguín has the route-by-route view.
Car, bus or boat to Puerto de Mogán?
By car it is about 21 minutes with no traffic and the car then has to be parked. The bus is usually the cheapest option and line 91 runs from early morning to late evening, and it is the practical choice for an ordinary visit to Puerto de Mogán. The boat costs €15 single or €21 return from Arguineguín, and it is a trip in itself: we would go one way by boat and come back by bus, rather than risk missing the last sailing.
For Puerto Rico the same logic applies at a smaller scale: the boat is €8 single, and buses 91, 33 and 39 all stop there. If your budget is tight, take the bus; if you want the sea view, the boat is worth the price once.
The airport and Las Palmas
The airport is the figure most people search for: about 42 km and 33 minutes by car. The direct bus is €4.95 on lines 90 and 91 and the price is paid to the driver. A taxi runs on the meter; no fixed fare from the airport to Arguineguín is published, so see taxis in Arguineguín before you decide on a number.
Las Palmas is the other end of the same motorway, about 63 km. Line 91 is the direct bus, and a day in the capital is described in a day in Las Palmas. The bus saves you the motorway drive and the parking.
East towards Maspalomas
The Faro de Maspalomas is 13 km away and is the gateway to the dunes. Line 90 goes there directly. Meloneras and Playa del Inglés are a little further along the same stretch, in the neighbouring municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana; Maspalomas and Meloneras from Arguineguín describes the day out.
Inland and into the mountains
Soria is the nearest mountain village at about 25 km and 39 minutes, up the GC-505. Mogán village is about 21 km. For public transport, Mogán village needs a change at Puerto de Mogán. Soria and Mogán village each have their own page.
The Roque Nublo is further, roughly 45–50 km, and it is the one trip where the distance is not the main question. Access through the Degollada de la Goleta needs a free online reservation (since February 2025), there is no car parking at the pass except for visitors with reduced mobility, and between 10:00 and 17:00 you need a free reservation on grancanariasenderos.com. Roque Nublo and the mountains has the details.
Walking distances close to home
Patalavaca and Anfi are 2.5 and 3 km away by road, and the coastal path between them is a standard walk; coastal walks from Arguineguín to Patalavaca and Anfi covers it. Beyond Anfi the choice is the bus or the boat.
If a word on a sign or timetable stops you, the glossary of Spanish and Canarian words explains guagua, parada, cruce and the rest. For the wider island, the sister site canaryguide.info has an overview of Gran Canaria.
